Featuring Our Little Flower: Kendra
Hi all! My name is Kendra. I am from a small town near Mt. Rainier called Eatonville, Washington. I moved into the Lisieux House in July of 2021 after graduating from Western Washington University (WWU). I currently work at a parish in Seattle as the Director of Faith Formation.

I first heard about Lisieux House Spring of 2019. The bible study I was a part of at WWU was taking a weekend trip to Seattle. We needed a place to stay and the Lisieux House graciously hosted us. I was amazed to see that a place like this existed. It encouraged me to see young women continuing to live their faith in this way. Flash forward two years later to the spring of 2021. I had just been hired at my parish job and needed to find housing. I remembered my visit to the Lisieux House and reached out to begin the application process. With lots of changes and transitions ahead, I strongly desired to be a part of an intentional community that was rooted in the Lord. Coming back to Lisieux House for a dinner visit, I was flooded with a sense of peace and felt at home.

Now, after living here for five months, I can truly say this is my home. Part of the charism of the Lisieux House is the rest and healing of the women who live here. When I moved in July, I was going through transition and change. I had just graduated and was adjusting to working full time. I was leaving friends and relationships behind. There was a lot of uncertainty and I felt that more than ever I needed healing and rest. I could not ask for a better community to walk with me in this than the women at Lisieux. Whether it’s playing tennis, roller skating, doing puzzles or just talking, I know I always have a community to be with me. They are with me through the successes, failures, joys and sorrows of life. I am so grateful for the ways the Lord has loved me through these friendships.
