Earlier this month, the ladies of Lisieux House went on a retreat. One of the many wonderful things that come with living at Lisieux House (other than having Jesus as a roommate) is that we go on two retreats a year, one spiritual and the other recreational. This one, in particular, was our spiritual retreat. Early this past February a few of the girls in the house participated in FOCUS’s SEEK21 Conference. FOCUS is a Catholic organization that aims to share Christ’s gospel and specifically evangelize towards college students and young adults. SEEK is typically one of the largest Catholic conferences in the United States. Usually the conference is held in person, but due to the ongoing pandemic, it was held virtually. Although this was a bummer, God used this change for his Glory.
I’m always amazed by my inability to discern my needs and desires; how I might even violently protest against what’s actually best for my heart, body, mind, and soul in a given moment. This resistance normally arises when I have an endless to-do list and I falsely believe I don’t have the time to be present in relationship with God, my friends, and myself. In moments of busyness, I morph into a pragmatic machine, quickly moving from one task to the next, as if I believe accom
